This pillar focuses on protecting and restoring aquatic biodiversity and ecosystems in the face of climate change, habitat degradation, and overexploitation. Discussions will explore ecosystem-based management, conservation effectiveness, climate resilience, and governance mechanisms that balance biodiversity protection with food security and livelihoods. The pillar aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).



This pillar emphasizes the advancement of sustainable aquaculture systems, with particular attention to inshore, coastal, and small-to-medium-scale operations. Key areas include low-impact technologies, integrated and circular systems, feed innovation, aquatic animal health, digitalization, and the socioeconomic dimensions of aquaculture. The pillar supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).



This pillar addresses the sustainability of capture fisheries through science-based management, effective governance, and regional cooperation. Topics include stock assessment, IUU fishing, co-management, value chains, and the role of fisheries in future global food systems. The pillar aligns with SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
